The MV103 is a specialized diode (sometimes referred to as a varistor) used extensively by Sansui in a wide range of models and circuit locations. It is unique due to its internal construction: three small-signal diodes housed in a single package, designed to deliver precise dynamic behavior in vintage audio circuits.
For years, the MV103 was considered unobtainable as NOS, leading technicians to substitute it with three 1N4150 diodes in series. However, of course, this solution was a compromise, because three 1N4150 diodes connected in series do not have the same current characteristics as the MV103 — they are similar, but there are differences!
Now, for the first time in years, I am offering the original MV103 diode – genuine NOS, never used.

Why Choose the Original MV103?
There are opinions online that the MV103 is unreliable and should always be replaced with three 1N4150 diodes, but I would say the following:
We are talking about devices and their electronic circuits that were manufactured 50, 40, or 30 years ago.
If this diode functioned properly within a circuit all that time, and only after so many years of operation it started to fail or change its parameters — what’s so strange about that?
From my experience, even ceramic capacitors can fail after so many years, even though I used to think those components could remain functional "forever"...
If you're restoring or maintaining a classic Sansui unit, now is the time to replace aging MV103 diodes with authentic, original NOS parts — ensuring both electrical integrity and historical accuracy.
